Thomas Lélu has never had much respect for boundaries.

Between art and language. Between seriousness and a joke. Between what we understand immediately and what sometimes takes a little longer.

With It Will All Make Sense Later, his new exhibition at Long Story Short Paris, the French artist presents a collection of unique pieces that give a new dimension, quite literally to his universe.

Here, the works are no longer limited to a surface. They become objects. Unique objects, conceived, crafted, and considered as fully fledged works of art.

Mirrors, ceramics, and handcrafted frames made by artisans come together in an exhibition where every detail matters. The frame no longer simply surrounds the work. It becomes the work. The mirror does more than reflect. The ceramic is more than a support. Each piece possesses its own presence, materiality, and language.

Thomas Lélu may be changing the playing field, but not his method: looking at the world from a slight angle, taking an idea, a word, an image, or a situation, and shifting it just enough for something to feel slightly off. Or begin to make sense. Just not necessarily right away.

The exhibition opens a new chapter in the artist’s practice. Moving from image to object, from frame to material, from looking to reflection, Thomas Lélu gives physical form to a universe that has always been as much about ideas as it is about shapes.

Every work presented at Long Story Short Paris is unique. Some are produced in collaboration with artisans, through a close dialogue between the artist’s ideas and the mastery of the handmade gesture. Others take unexpected forms, but all share the same precision, humour, and ability to tip something familiar into something slightly stranger. And if some things seem familiar, they rarely stay that way for long.
