Press release
We are pleased to present Don’t Count On Me, I’ll Do It Again, a selection of works by artist and designer Chris Alborano.
History can be harsh—a never ending news cycle of crisis and tragedy. Channeling happier times, Chris Alborano creates a particular aesthetic practice. Flower petals and a warped smiley face take the place of a journal, and a visual language all his own fills the pages.
The resulting series of works, silk screened on composite board, articulate highly personal moments in a direct, universal grammar. Scribbles, cheetah print, and primary colors carry the sincerity and urgency of this pursuit. A logo for a Coors beer becomes that beer, enjoyed in the sun of a particular moment which Alborano documents. The titles, “Taxi Hispano,” “Losers Never Win,” and “Pizza Dealer,” are similarly double sided. An archive of specific memories collides with a stylistic language—transposing moments of profound bliss.
A new archive of experiences are presented by Alborano, in which fleeting moments are frozen in time; in which the personal is diffused into universal gestures, and the universal becomes intimate.
